MEET THE DEVELOPERS
Adam Persky, PhD
Dr. Adam Persky received his BS in biology from Purdue University and a MS in exercise science from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He completed his PhD in pharmaceutical sciences at the University of Florida and did an industry-sponsored postdoctoral fellowship in pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and GlaxoSmithKline. Currently, he is a clinical professor at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy
Within the pharmacy school, Dr. Persky teaches physiology and pharmacokinetics and has received several of the School’s teaching awards, including Best Overall Instructor. He was named an Atlantic Coast Conference Teaching Scholar during the program’s inaugural year and has been named a Distinguished Teaching Scholar by the American Associations of College of Pharmacy. He is the associate editor for the American Journal of Pharmaceutical Education and on the editorial board for College Teaching. Dr. Persky has given numerous workshops across the country on a variety of topics related to teaching and learning.

Todd Zakrajsek, PhD
Dr. Todd Zakrajsek, is an Associate Professor and Associate Director of the Faculty Fellowship in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of North Carolina (UNC) School of Medicine, and Adjunct Associate Professor of Faculty Development in the College of Veterinary Medicine at North Carolina State University. He is the immediate past Executive Director of the Center for Faculty Excellence at UNC Chapel Hill. Prior to his work at UNC, Dr. Zakrajsek started and directed centers for teaching and learning at Central Michigan University and Southern Oregon University.

Dr. Zakrajsek is also the President of the International Teaching Learning Cooperative Network, which was created to bring faculty members together to advance student learning. At present, this is primarily accomplished by facilitating customized workshops, disseminating information through The Scholarly Teacher Blog, and directing five national Lilly Conferences on Evidence-Based Teaching and Learning.
Additionally, Dr. Zakrajsek sits on two educationally related boards and several editorial boards for journals in the area of teaching and learning. He is an international speaker who is requested regularly for keynote presentations and campus workshops, having published and presented widely on the topic
of effective teaching and student learning. His recent co-authored books include: Dynamic Lecturing: Research-based Strategies to Enhance Lecture Effectiveness (Stylus Publishing, to be released July, 2017); Teaching for Learning: 101 Intentionally Designed Education Activities to Put Students on the Path to Success (Routledge, 2015); and The New Science of Learning: How to Learn in Harmony with Your Brain (Stylus; 2013).
